Magic Moments Gala Raises Over $177,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Event Co-Chairs Roger Schleper and Sue Wendt welcome guests to the Magic Moments Gala

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota hosted its annual Magic Moments Gala on Friday April 11, 2014 at the St. Cloud River’s Edge Convention Center. The event was attended by over 700 guests and raised over $177,000 for the program.

The Magic Moments Gala also raises awareness of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. This year's theme was "Growing Up Big" which highlighted the lifelong impact of mentoring. Guest speakers, Gary Marsden and Vince Mohs, were matched through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in 1976 and shared the journey of their friendship and the positive impact their relationship has had on both of their lives.

The BriAnna Kruzel Growing Up Big Award was announced at the Gala. The award was created in honor of BriAnna Kruzel, a former mentor who passed away unexpectedly this past September. This award will be given out annually at the Magic Moments Gala to a deserving program participant, either a former Little or High School Big, who demonstrates service to the community, character, and integrity.

Next year's Magic Moments Gala has been scheduled for Friday, April, 10, 2015. The event will be held again at the St. Cloud River's Edge Convention Center.

All proceeds from the Magic Moments Gala help fund Big Brothers Big Sister’s youth mentoring program benefiting local children who are facing adversity. Currently, there are over 100 children in Central Minnesota that are waiting for a Big Brother, Big Sister, Big Couple or Big Family.
